Scrambling away pain for cancer patients | Video | Reuters.com
For many cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy treatments, peripheral neuropathy can be a devastating side effect. It is difficult for those of us who do not have this condition to really understand what it feels like. My mother had this and it made the last two or three months of her life pretty miserable.
She tried different methods to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with peripheral neuropathy. Commonly used drugs like Lyrica and gabapentin did not work. She tried acupuncture. She tried heat therapy. I wish that she was still around to try out this experimental therapy as it is sounding promising for some people with this problem.
The video (link above) explains what neuropathy is and how it works and why this new form of treatment just might be the answer for those who otherwise have not been able to find relief for their neuropathy.
Doing a search on Google for “Scrambler Nerve Therapy” provides more information for those who are looking for help with this condition for themselves or someone they know. There are clinical trial information sources available in that search as well. While it seems like the location this type of therapy is performed in is limited, hopefully the trials will prove to be successful and more cancer centers around the country will be able to offer this as an alternative for peripheral neuropathy pain management.

I think these type of posts are a great addition to your blog. Sometimes when someone falls ill we are just dumped into the vast medical world and let the doctor take the lead. Many people are overwhelmed and maybe aren’t able to research their symptoms and alternative options themselves.
Thank you for noticing that this is something new I have done with this blog. I hope the information is helpful to someone.
