We made it through our first Thanksgiving without mom. I think she would have been pretty proud of the dinner I cooked today. It sure was good and only slightly burnt. I went a little over my target time to have dinner on the table, but that was okay. I made some pretty delicious meals and even took some pictures of it, unfortunately the sd card on my phone got corrupted before I could upload the pictures so they were lost when I was forced to reformat the sd card.
Anyway, I made 5 dishes….
- Ham
- Champagne Olive Risotto
- Green Bean Casserole
- Brocolli and mashed potato pie
- Syrup and bacon yams
My sister made lox and mascarpone crostini and a christmas tree made of pepper jack and cheddar cubes with grape tomatoes and sprigs of rosemary. We also had chips and dip and a veggie platter.
It was a little hectic being head chef for our first Thanksgiving without our parents, but we managed to pull through without any tears.. well until my sister tried to say the blessing. It sure was strange having Thanksgiving without them and we all would have preferred if they were still around, but it turned out to be a pretty good time. Some laughs, some tension when the kitchen was full of people and I was trying to cook, some good food and good conversation. Not too shabby for our first ‘new’ Thanksgiving.
BTW: This is my 150th post since I started this blog back in February. Can’t believe that much time has passed. Can’t believe all the trials we endured during that time.

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving and you all could be together. On Nov 28, 2014 12:22 AM, “Chronicles of Cancer” wrote:
