Must have sleep

This will be a short post today.  We have lots to do to prepare for the open house memorial in two days.  Here is a little list of things we still need to get done:

* Finish scanning photos and create slideshow movie

* Make the house pretty (inside and out)

* Shop for plasticware, drinks and other assorted goodies

* Pickup Dad

* Re-arrange furniture to make room for people

* Create displays (photos/writings)

Not to mention the setup we need to do on Saturday before people start arriving.

All of this is being done while having to work around mom’s illness.  The past two days she has been dealing with nausea and dizziness.  She called the doctor this afternoon because I was about ready to take her to the emergency room.  I told her a trip there for a couple hours to find out nothing terrible is wrong would be worth it.  The doctor told her she is probably dehydrated and to drink more water.  I am sure stress is playing a part in this as well.  While she is looking forward to seeing friends and family, she is more anxious to get Saturday over with so that she doesn’t have to stress about it.

I didn’t sleep much last night for some reason, but during one of the brief periods where I did sleep I had a dream that mom and I were standing at the front door looking out.  There was a kitchen full of food and no one there to eat it.  I do know there will be people here on Saturday, but I just hope for mom’s sake that it is a good turnout and that she has a chance to enjoy herself.

I will make the video slideshow of dad related pictures available to those that couldn’t make it.  I am only partway done and it is already 8 minutes long.  We made one pass of the first draft to see if there were any pictures we could cut out, but decided that only one picture would be removed for now.  The photos so far consist of only two of the eight or so albums mom has.  That does not take into account pictures that are already in electronic form (which would be the most recent years pictures like their cruises).  It has been fun looking at old pictures though.

Okay, I said this was going to be a short post and although I could probably write lots more, I had better stop here.
