There isn’t much in the way of an update on my parents today. They got home from their mini-vacation early this afternoon. They made the best of their little getaway. Mom came away a winner on the slots by a few bucks. Dad seemed to have some giddy up in his step, while mom was glad to be home and just wanted to take a nap 🙂
I, on the other hand, had a busy day. There is a lot to do around the house and although I managed to get a few things checked off the list, there is still plenty left. Here is a little laundry list of the chores I was able to tackle:
- Vacuumed up the hair mom has been shedding in the bathroom and the living room.
- Did some laundry
- Raked the stupid seed pods, that were blown all over the place yesterday when we had some heavy wind, from the south side of the house.
- Swept the garage
- Watered all the potted plants (poor things are stuck with my inability to deal with plant life)
- Washed the dishes
- Clorox spray cleaned the counter tops in the kitchen and the stove
- Called my doctor to set up a checkup and called mom’s oncologist to discuss pain management
- Cooked dinner
Not as much as I was hoping to get done, but I didn’t sleep much last night. I imagine I looked like a parent on their child’s first sleep over at a friend’s house. When I finally did get to sleep, around 4 am, I slept until 9:30 am so there wasn’t much time to get things done before my parents got home. I would like to have gone to the gym as well, but just didn’t get to around to it.
Late this afternoon Mom got a call from Sherry. Mom was so happy to talk with her. It really put a smile on her face, so thank you Sherry. For those family and friends who are apprehensive to call, I understand and encourage you to call anyway. Mom isn’t fragile, she isn’t going to break if you are emotional when you call her. So cry, laugh, talk and you are apt to get an earful of stories of the past about the family. Mom can’t tell you much about yesterday, but she can talk your ear off about stuff that happened many years ago.
Well I think that sums up the day. We shall see what fun stuff tomorrow brings!
