Not much to report today. Mom and I went to the gym this morning. I worked out and she socialized with her friends. This was the second time mom has been to the gym since getting her new hair and no one noticed it was different, until some of the gals there were talking about hair and one of them commented that my mother’s hair always looked good. Mom said something about not having much hair left (she still has a little bit of her own), but her friends thought she just meant her hair was thinning. They were quite surprised to find out it was a wig. I think that response made mother happy. One of the gals, asked where she got it and wrote down the information so that she could go to the same place. 🙂
After leaving the gym, we headed over to the hospital. Dad was sounding much better. His speech was hardly labored between breaths and he had some color back in him. He said he has also walked up and down the hallway. That was encouraging, but he is still not out of the woods. He saw the doctor once in the morning when she came in to tell him that he possibly had pneumonia in one of his lungs and said they would be taking him down in a bit for a CT scan of his chest. The doctor still had not come back around when mom and I left the hospital around 5 pm. So mom wants to get there early in the morning to catch the doctor and give ’em a piece of her mind. She wants Dad to be in better shape before coming home this time (as opposed to the last stay when he had the clots). Hopefully we will hear more tomorrow, but at least the blood transfusion gave him some energy back. Though I suspect most of that energy was directed into going to the bathroom every 5 minutes from the ton of Lasix they put into him to try to dry up his lungs. He also didn’t cough nearly as much as he had been, which is also good.
I will let you all know as soon as I do what the next step will be.
Mom seems to be holding up well. She is worried about Dad of course, but her energy level was pretty good today. I love it when she uses the walker, because I don’t have to worry so much about her falling. She took a little stumble today that I think surprised her and hopefully made her realize how quickly and easily a fall could happen. Fortunately she did not tip over and was able to regain her balance.
I feel like my writing today is disjointed. I am exhausted, but for some reason couldn’t fall asleep. I was going to wait until tomorrow to do this post, but since I was just laying there tossing and turning… I might as well get the post done.
Well I think that sums up the day. We shall see what fun stuff tomorrow brings!
