What a wild ride this year has been. Although my parent’s passing was an obvious low point, there were some really good times this year. Here is a list of some of the highlights from this year:

  • I started this blog in February which allowed me to keep family and friends abreast of my parents condition through the year.
  • I was able to care for my parents when they were not as able to do it themselves.
  • I reconnected with distant family members.
  • We had visits from Craig and Mary, Sherry and Don, Larry and Diana, and David along with various local friends.
  • Mom and I spent a lot of time together and were able to talk about all sorts of things.
  • With the help of my buddy Ron, I was able to surprise my mother with a ‘Make-a-wish’ style dream of hers to see behind the scenes of the gorilla exhibit at the San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park.
  • Got to spend a lot of time with my sister, which we had not done in years.
  • Went on a couple of road trips to see friends, family and old stomping grounds.
  • Made a wonderful Thanksgiving meal for the family.
  • Re-affirmed just how great my friend are!

As we enter a new year, I am hopeful that there will be more highs than lows in 2015.  I am looking forward to exploring new ideas and achieving new goals. One of those goal is to continue this blog with a renewed vigor to post more frequently. I want to take on a more positive attitude in my posts and to that end I will be posting (at least for a while) about good memories of my parents.  I also want to write about what kind of people my parents were and how they lived life.

Another goal is to continue my hypnotherapy courses and work towards establishing a practice.  I don’t yet know what kind of practice I would like to focus on as the possibilities are endless, but some thoughts are helping people cope with their ailments and the effects of medical treatments.  Another interesting area would be working with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.  To start though it will probably be the bread and butter of hypnotherapy, that is smoking cessation and weight loss.

I wish all my friends and family a very happy and safe new year!
