I don’t mean to offend anyone by the title of this post.  Dad was certainly the type of guy that could laugh at a comment like that.  It’s just too bad that his name wasn’t Jack.  You have to be able to laugh, especially in times like these.

Mom and I picked up dad today and brought him home for the last time.  I was warned that the urn would be heavy, but I guess I wasn’t prepared for just how heavy dad is these days.  I am glad that we have him home because mom was really stressed that he would not be ready for his big day tomorrow.  Fortunately he made it home in the nick of time.

Mom is both looking forward to tomorrow and dreading tomorrow.  She has gone back and forth between these two emotions quite bit over the last couple days.  I really hope that there is no rain (it is supposed to rain) and that we have a good turnout.  We have been very busy the last week getting things ready for the open house. There are still a couple things left to do still.  I am finishing up the slideshow (waiting for it to build while writing this post).  There are 131 pictures that I scanned and put into this slideshow.  I lost about an hour’s worth of work earlier tonight when the program I was using to build it decided to crash, but I got that work redone and am making different format version of it now.  I still need to find music for a version of it with music, but that might have to wait for another time.  We also have a few items to pickup tomorrow and there is the setup of food, tables, chairs, etc to be done in the morning as well.

Anyhow, this will be another short post because I want to get to sleep sometime tonight.  So I will leave you with a picture of dad:

  1. Oh, Jarin ~ I wasn’t offended at all! In fact, it made me smile! Immediate flashbacks hit my mind — moments with your Dad and his quick, shy grins at semi-naughtiness or downright belly-laughs at downright funniness. I like all the pictures … I know they were taken on cruise dress-up nights since, with very few exceptions, those were the only times we ever saw Ken in a suit! In my head, though, I’ll always picture him in shorts and t-shirts …

Your Dad and Wayne would both have given up some good chuckles over your tongue-in-cheeky-ness!

Keep up the good work and hug your Mom! We’ll see you this afternoon.

Oh look! The sun just came out and everything’s green, colorful and shiny! I’m sure it’ll be that way at you house later today.

  2. I’m sure it is something Ken “wood” have an “opineion” about. Dearly loved his sense of humor. We have mentioned his name several times today and truly wish we had been able to attend his going away party. A big hug and kiss for Bev, and all our love from Don and Donna.
